Collector’s Note

This clock appears in photographs taken across two of Monroe’s residences during the 1950s: her Beverly Carlton Hotel suite and her Doheny Drive apartment. That photographic record places it consistently in her personal space over several years, carried with her as she moved between homes.

It is a small, utilitarian object. What the photographs document is simply that she used it, regularly and privately, in the spaces where she lived.
