 I recently visited New York City for my series I call “In Her 👠!“ This is where I visit and photograph sites and locations where she lived and worked.

Marilyn lived in New York for several years, having first moved to the east coast at the very of 1954. In 1955 she launched Marilyn Monroe Productions, which was based in the city. She still had her apartment at 444 East 57th Street at the time of her death in 1962.

In this video, I’m standing in the lobby of Marilyn’s apartment building. On May 19th, 1962, the date of the now famous democratic fundraiser for President John F. Kennedy at Madison Square Garden, members of the Monroe Six were waiting for Marilyn in her lobby. She emerged from the elevator wearing her now iconic Jean Luis designed gown. She was on her way to the fundraiser, where she would later sing “Happy Birthday” to the President. I always describe this night as THE moment in time when Hollywood and politics collided with a bang. Marilyn’s publicist and friend Pat Newcomb can be seen over Marilyn’s left shoulder.

Many elements of Marilyn’s lobby are the same today as they were when she lived there. The photograph of Monroe aligns nearly perfectly with my photo.
 The Monroe Six was a group of six “super fans” who took every chance they could to see Marilyn in person and take her photograph. Marilyn became close with them and got to know each of them by name.

Imagine being able to just hang out in Marilyn’s lobby, waiting for her to snap a photo and get an autograph. Fortunately, today, many of these locations still exist.

Many followers have been contacting me about an up

Many followers have been contacting me about an update on the status of Marilyn Monroe’s Brentwood home.

The area of her home on Fifth Helena Drive is under an evacuation warning, but not an evacuation order. It is still safe. Also, Marilyn’s final resting place is currently not at risk. The news indicates there are three days of Santa Ana winds in the forecast, which isn’t great for controlling wildfires.

While the loss of Marilyn’s final home would certainly be devastating, let’s not lose sight of what’s most important now: The safety and wellbeing of everyone in the impacted areas and supporting those who have lost everything.

Let’s all hold a good thought for every person and animal impacted by this horrible and frightening situation, and help where we can with donations to (verified) entities that are providing support.

Palisades Fire Update: For those unaware, the Pali

Palisades Fire Update: For those unaware, the Palisades Fire in Los Angeles, which now encompasses nearly 3,000 acres, is adjacent to Marilyn Monroe’s final home in Brentwood. Evacuation orders and warnings are in effect for residents throughout many areas, (though not the area of Marilyn’s home).

Many structures in the LA area have already been lost. Please hold a good thought for everyone already impacted by this horrible fire. Let’s hope it is contained soon.

In honor of last night’s @goldenglobes award cer

In honor of last night’s @goldenglobes award ceremony, Marilyn at the golden Globes in 1960 and 1962. In 1960, she won the award for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Motion Picture for Some Like it Hot. In 1962, she won the award for World Film Favorite Female. It’s always struck me how different she looked at these two events. She was lovely at both, no doubt, but clearly at different stages in her life. 1960 would be the year of her final completed film (The Misfits), released in 1961, which was also the year of the end of her marriage to Arthur Miller. She would be gone just five months after the 1962 ceremony.
