Originally sold in 1999 at the Christie’s sale, “The Personal Property of Marilyn Monroe,” this dress still holds the record for the most expensive personal dress ever sold at auction, with a final price of $1,267,500.00.  The original buyer Mr. Martin Zweig, an influential financial investor, passed away in February, 2013.  The dress is being offered at auction by his heirs.  Of course, Marilyn’s Seven Year Itch costume holds the record for the most expensive film costume ever sold at auction, with a final price of $5,658,000.00 with buyer’s premium.

The question now is how much will the Happy Birthday dress sell for 17 years later?
