Monroe Costume to Surface on Antiques Roadshow

According to news reports, a black dress worn by Marilyn Monroe in the 1959 comedy, “Some Like It Hot” will be featured in the Jan. 12 episode of Antiques Roadshow. Show appraisers valued it between $150,000 and $250,000. It’s not yet known which costume will be on the show. There was more than one black dress in SLIH:

Let’s hope the Roadshow does a better job with this segment, as compared to these two from 1999:

The autographed photo was actually a secretarial signature. The collection was comprised of items not actually owned by Marilyn, including the Cheiftain Yearbook and the child’s doll.

    I don't know if you caught this, but it was the 2nd dress (the black one). That was the estimate, but the appraiser admitted it was extremely conservative & could easily sell for much more than that at auction. It was amazing how SMALL the dress was, especially since Marilyn was her heaviest in that film. She was still much tinier than the norm!
