Wait for it…

In Her Shoes: Marilyn Monroe Announces Divorce from Arthur Miller  My “In Her 👠” tour continues with me inside Marilyn’s apartment building lobby at 444 East 57th Street in New York. Marilyn appears, exiting from her elevator on November 11, 1960. In this shot, I’m standing in the lobby in front of a set of double doors that Marilyn walks by as the heads toward the front doors of her building.

Her divorce from third husband Arthur Miller had just been announced, and she was surrounded by members of the press, both inside the lobby and waiting outside. They were asking for quotes and taking photos. In film footage from this same event a reporter is heard asking Marilyn, “What’s the reason for the breakup, can you tell us?” She responded with, “I’m sorry, I can’t talk about my personal life.”
 We’ve all experienced the end of relationships, resulting in pain and loss. Imagine, however, having the breakup be the headline in newspapers around the world.  There are still more NYC posts to come!
